Martijn Merkx is product manager at FUTURUM and had a front row seat during the development of the new 4 SEASONS PRO Jacket. Martijn: "When we worked on the 4 SEASONS PRO Jacket we have looked to the extremes to bring into this product. The major challenge for a breathable wind- and waterproof jacket is to find the optimum between the degree of waterproofness and the breathability. With the new 4 SEASONS PRO we raised the bar by adding a completely new membrane that has a breathability level which is 3 times higher than our standard 4 SEASONS membrane, which already has a relatively high breathability rating."

Raising the bar

"The high tech membrane is combined with a robust polyester outer layer which protects the membrane and offers part of the insulation of the jacket", says Merkx. "The outside is treated with a DWR coating as well to help keeping this outer layer dry as long as possible. The special lining on the backside of the membrane, thus the inside of the jacket, quickly transports sweat towards and through the membrane. The special "squared" pattern in this fabric plays an important role in this process."
