The Daniel Chronicles | Episode #7
FUTURUM Base Layers

Episode #7

Hello! As I write this and look outside, I see the sun shining in a typical Dutch sky with white-gray clouds. It invites a long ride in spring clothes, but the weather app shows me that the temperature is still below 5 degrees. The clear weather is a welcome change, because the past few days it was often quite dark and grey.

Speaking of clothing, now that I'm back in the Netherlands for a while and I've almost always worn the new 4 SEASONS PRO jacket from FUTURUM, I can tell you that this jacket is really a godsend. Wearing layers is a thing of the past! I didn't believe it at first, but this jacket really only needs to be worn in combination with a base layer of your choice. On warmer days, I use a sleeveless base layer underneath and when it's really cold, wear a merino base layer with long sleeves. During the more intense workouts in bad weather, the jacket keeps me dry and pleasantly warm and you can really notice that the breathability of the fabric is so high. As you may know, it rains regularly in the Netherlands and so the right clothing is really important if you want to keep on training.

We don't just have enough water falling from the sky here by the way. Take a look at the map of this ride of mine. If you zoom in a little further, you will see all the small ditches and canals as well as the somewhat larger lakes that were created from the Golden Age onwards bythe extraction of peat for the needs of Amsterdam in particular. Of course, we haven't used peat for a long time now, but its extraction in the past has made fora beautiful area to cycle through!

My participation in the extreme MISSION 48.1000 is getting closer and closer and last time I already told you briefly about the "easy" version of this challenge and that it would be great if many of you also take on this challenge in the weekend of April 10 and 11 and that we can then support each other. FUTURUM has an official partnership with STRAVA for this challenge, where you have to ride 500kmin 48 hours. If you want to have the same experience as myself, you can make it even harder for yourself by complying with the rules that the participants of the MISSION 48.1000 also have to comply with. You can find all the details here. Looking forward to see the efforts of many of you on STRAVA that weekend

Cheers, Daniel
