Episode #3

Greetings, fellow cyclists! I'm still in Namibia working my way through the training sessions here, accompanied by fellow-Paralympic athlete Tim de Vries and our national coach Eelke van der Wal. I'm very satisfied with the work we have been able to do so far and feel that we are on the right track towards the Olympic Games in Tokyo. The rumors last week about the potential cancellation of the event were worrying for me of course and I'm happy that it's still a go. It goes without saying that the safety of all athletes, the support staff and the people of Japan has the highest priority, so should the Games need to be postponed again or even cancelled, I 100% support that decision. We'll surely find new goals to work hard for!

Speaking of goals and challenges; I stumbled upon a, what seems to be a very hard 48hrs solo race. Check out the teaser video:

It reminds me of a long day in the saddle last year. On the 2nd of June 2020 I got up in the middle of the night for my longest ride ever. Just over 560km in 17,5hrs!! It's amazing to see what you are capable off if you have the right mindset and persistence. So this challenge which seems to be coming up, sounds like an interesting next-level ride for me. I already did 560+km in 17hrs, so 1.000km in 48hrs shouldn't be that hard, right? I'm curious to hear more details...

That's it for this weeks' update. Enjoy the weekend everyone and I'll be back soon with episode #4 of the Daniel Chronicles.
