PRO DEVELOPMENT

At FUTURUM, we use the experience of (former) professionals, such as Maarten Tjallingii, Stijn Devolder and Leopard Pro Cycling. By working closely together with the teams and athletes, we make sure that our products will achieve a comprehensive amount of test kilometers. Also we make sure that our clothing meets the requirements of the riders, who use their bike every day in a professional environment. We take a lot of time for this quality control. For example, the development of the extremely popular 4 SEASONS collection took over two years, while we spent years to develop seamless Merino base layers.

You benefit from our experience

In our production process we always pay a lot of attention to detail. During development, ambassadors that know the ropes help us with exhaustive testing and sharing experiences in order to be able to develop the best products that answer every single wish of the most demanding cyclists. Working with these pro's means great benefit for you as our customer.

Stijn Devolder has paid a lot of attention to details during his career as he knows those details can make the difference between winning and losing. In doing so, he shares the vision of FUTURUM. "In the eighteen years that I have been a professional cyclist, I have repeatedly come across opponents who were not inferior to me in terms of level. By searching for details each time, I have succeeded in celebrating many successes, like winning the Tour of Flandres two times. It's great to see that FUTURUM is also very successful thanks to this well thought-out way of working," says Stijn Devolder.

The process of testing

Maarten Tjallingii: "As a pro, the clothing requirements were very high, after all, you drove for the prices. For FUTURUM, I try to take those experiences with me, but I look at them with a different perspective. For example, an amateur or recreational rider who takes up a great challenge is not as deep as the pro, which means that you take different sitting positions into account when testing. And you think: what would be best for the average FUTURUM cyclist? I studied technical business administration in the past, at the same time as Martijn, who is now a product developer here. That study helps me to make up for the translation, to name the essentials. What lines and shapes do you have to keep for a shirt? Which fabrics are important? Where should the ventilation holes be and where shouldn't they be? How do you handle something from your back pocket with gloves? I pay attention to that and give that essential feedback. Then Roland and Martijn, the FUTURUM Product Managers, take over. After adjustment, I check whether the manufacturer has interpreted the wishes correctly."
